Do you have any advice for attending a full-day virtual conference? Do I have to have my camera on or speak? We do! We want to assure everyone that it’s okay to walk the dog, fold some laundry, eat, or lay on the floor and stare at the ceiling while you engage with the conference - to take care of yourself throughout the day. We know the speakers and discussions will be FIRE! We will all leave having learned a lot, having been inspired, and ready to implement or continue to grow in changing the work we do with students. And we also want you to take care of yourself. So absolutely show up, take notes, and share in the chat, feeling free to be present in other ways throughout the day, too! You do not have to have your camera on, and you do not have to speak! However, please know that this is not a Zoom “webinar.” We are together in Zoom, so we will see you if your camera is on, and we will see your still photo if your camera is off. While we anticipate that many conversations will take place in the chat (yes, it might be a bit chaotic, let’s be honest!), we also imagine there will be space for speaking at a minimum in the breakout rooms, if you so choose. We know the workshop presenters and facilitators will appreciate, and even invite, discussions and ideas from attendees! Please take a look at our care and access statement for more about how we can be together in community during the conference.
